Overweight children in Europe are increasing: there are 14 million, of which 3 million are obese.
Movimento Difesa del Cittadino is launching a European project against child obesity denominated PERISCOPE (Pilot European Regional Interventions for Smart Childhood Obesity Prevention in Early Age).
The goal of the project is to collect and evaluate information on the eating and physical exercise habits of children and their families in order to develop pilot intervention methodologies to favour healthy nutrition and appropriate physical exercise.
The project is also aimed at spreading awareness among European citizens through a monthly newsletter entitled “Periscope-Child&Food”, containing news about PERISCOPE and child nutrition themes.
The newsletter will be available as from April 30 in four languages: Italian, English, Danish and Polish.
